Date Night :)
As newly-weds Chris and I get a lot of gifts, and we are so thankful for them! And most of the gifts we received are geared towards date ideas, which is awesome! But I think my favorite date night gift we received was from my dear friend, Laura. A little background about Laura is she's awesome! She is so creative and finds the most interesting places to go. Anytime she picks where or what we do I know I'm in for something new and awesome! Laura gave Chris and I a wedding gift in the form of a date night. She got Chris and I a gift card to The Regency Theater.
Now, The Regency isn't your average theater... it's the fanciest theater ever. Instead of theater style seating, they have lazy boy recliners. Instead of a popcorn and candy counter, they have menus waiting for you in your seats. And instead of ticket takers, they have waiters and servers bringing you anything you want!! So after you enter the theater and pick your lazy boy recliner you order off there huge menu and pull up your personal arm rest into a small table to eat off of. They even have little buttons to alert the staff if you want a refill on your drink or if you want to order more food.

It was so awesome we had to document.
I was trying to take a picture of the seats but Chris got distracted :)
Chris couldn't believe how awesome it was he took a photo for himself. Also notice the menus and personal armrests/tables.
Happy date-nighters!!
Thank you Laura!!
Also, the theater is in San Juan Capistrano, so after the movie Chris and I walked around the beautiful San Juan adding to the special-ness of our evening :)
2012

Happy 2012!! I can't believe how fast time flies!
Earlier this week was mine and Chris' 6 month-aversary mark! Talk about time flying fast! From looking at this blog you couldn't tell how much we've done in the last 6 months so my newest goal is to post more updates about me, Chris, and our exciting adventures in marriage.
So to start this new goal, here are some of the happenings around the Tomlinson house:
Halloween 2011!! Chris and I went to Block-Tober as Phineas and Isabella!
If you're not familiar with Disney cartoons here is a photo of our costume inspiration.
It was sooo much fun!! All the kids recognized us and even Rick Warren thought our costumes were awesome!!
Of course, being married to Chris means I was bought into a world of geek-i-ness I never knew. So when me and my friend Cameo saw that Lord of The Rings in Concert was in town, a special treat for our husbands was in order...
Our seats at the Honda Center!
The Happy Couple :)
The next adventure was in Christmas hunting.
I was really surprised with the whole process, I think it had to do with going Christmas tree shopping with my family growing up. We would drive around to tons of Christmas tree lots, scour the trees, haggle with the workers for a lower price, and always end up spending around $80 for a tree. And it alway seem to take FOREVER! But the reward was always wonderful. We had beautiful Christmas trees every year, and turned out we always saved a ton of money doing it this way. My parents would buy a 12 ft tree for our house and for that price it's a steal!
So I was nerves going shopping. Chris and I live in a beautiful condo with a really high sealing, so we were thinking a 6 foot high one would be perfect. So we went to a Christmas tree lot and found our perfect tree right away and found it to be completely affordable! We ended up paying like $25!! So here is our adventure in Christmas tree hunting :)
Success!!
Bringing our tree to it's new home :)
Our first family Christmas tree, our labor of love :)
My favorite part of Christmas was the gifts we got to put on our tree. Chris' grandparents bought us a beautiful ornament with a picture of us from our wedding. And Auntie Robyn gave us an ornament with our names printed on it with two kissing snowmen :) We are so lucky to have such generous and thoughtful family!
And then, of course, Christmas!! Chris and I had an amazing first Christmas! We were a little overwhelm at the thought of visiting everyone who invited us over to celebrate, but we were so happy we did! It was so special and I'm so glad we spent it with all our family. Here are a few photos of our day.
On Christmas Eve, Chris and I joined the rest of the Tomlinson's at Pastor Buddy Owens House to listen to him and his father read about the birth of Christ. To say it was amazing would be an understatement. It's a tradition that the Owens have had for about 20 years and over those years the whole neighborhood gets involved in. Their neighbors make clay molds of all the animals, people, and angels involved in the story and as their parts are read they place the molds on the table. After the story ended we all joined together and sang Silent Night. It was so moving and an amazing reminder of what we are truly celebrating that night of the year.
Here is me and Chris on Christmas morning. The thing we were looking forward to the most on our first Christmas was the traditions we would start. Growing up we both had family traditions, things and made the holidays special. I know I was so honored and touched when Chris' family included me on all their family traditions the last few years, so Chris and I are very excited to start these traditions now to share with our children some day. I have a feeling it will be a mixture of both of our families traditions, which is so much fun!! My favorite new tradition Chris and I started our first Christmas was Chris bringing me coffee in bed. Because I sure it wont take our future kids long to know that Mom's day doesn't officially start until I have a cup of coffee...
I have so many more photos to post, but I feel like this post is getting pretty long already... I will soon post more, because Chris and I are constantly making new memories and having new adventures everyday.
